
Al Ain regained their place at the top of the standings despite sharing a 2-2 draw with Al Jazira in the last match of round four.
Al Ain opened the scoring only eight minutes into the game when Salem Abdulla's free-kick was headed home by Ismail Ahmed past Al Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khaseef.
Al Jazira levelled the scores five minutes after the break through Ivory Coast striker Antoni Nantcho with a powerful shot from inside the area just three minutes before he succ! essfully converted a spot-kick.
However, Al Ain equalised one minute after the hour mark when Ali Al Wohaibi sent a cross from the right which was headed home by Argentinian striker Jose Sand who scored his seventh goal this season.
Elsewhere, Emirates climbed to seventh as they defeated Ajman 3-1.
Algerian striker Karim Karkar gave the lead to Emirates after only five minutes before Ajman levelled the scores at the half-hour mark through Samir Ibrahim.
However, Karkar gave the lead for Emirates on 35 minutes before Moroccan striker Hassan Tair made it 3-1 for Emirates on 58 minutes.
