NBA Notes: Barkley Arrested for DUI

Marbury to Boston?
Rumors are floating about Knicks outcasted guard Stephon Marbury reuniting with Kevin Garnett in Boston. Marbury and KG were teammates in Minnesota in the beginning of "Starbury's" up and down career. Marbury is yet to dress for a game this season and even refused after the Knicks traded G Jamal Crawford. Marbury has been waiting to be bought out by New York, but in the meantime he will continue to get paid for doing absolutely nothing. The Celtics lost out on Antonio McDyess and D! ikembe Mutombo. They even asked retired C PJ Brown to return, but he is content with his family. The Celtics need length, but are willing to settle for an exerienced PG like Marbury to backup young stud Rajon Rondo. Marbury would like to sign on somewhere where he can start, but if he is unable to find a starting spot, Boston would be his top choice. Several Celtics players have been aksed about the possible addition to Marbury and none have opposed. Former teammates Kevin Garnett who did enjoy playing with Stephon the first time ! said all Marbury could do is help, not hurt. Ray Allen acknowl! edged Ma rbury's talent saying he could fit in. It will be interesting to see when Marbury does get that release, but the Celtics look like the most likely destination for Starbury.

Charles Barkley Arrested on Suspicion of DUI
Charles Barkley has had past issues with gambling, but now he has an even bigger problem. He was arrested in Arizona the other day for driving under the influence of alcohol. Barkley is currently an analyst for the NBA on TNT. If you drink, you can't drive! it's that simple. Barkley knows that and regrets it and is disappointed in himself, but that may not be enough. Charles Barkley is the most entertaining NBA analyst on television. He is a bright guy who says exactly how he feels. He has done nothing but improve the TNT broadcasts. Now TNT has a huge decision to make on whether or not to dismiss Barkley because of this incident. I do not forsee TNT firing Charles, but they should suspend him without pay if these charges are upheld. People make mistakes, and although this is one of the worst to make, Barkley can do more good on television than off it. He has become a better role model and citizen ever since overcoming his gambling issues. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Top 3 in East Fall on Sunday
The Celtics, Cavaliers, and Magic all lost on Sunday. Boston is now 2-4 in their last 6 games ever since losing to Kobe and the Lakers on Christmas Day. Don't panic Celts' fans, the Celtics are human and have their bad skids as well. West coast trips are never easy. The Cavs at 27-6 lost to the East's worst team in Washington. It was a road loss, but the Wizards are abysmal with Gilbert Arenas. I would be a bit more worried here because Big Z is hurt and the Cavs obviously missed him. The Magic lost to the Raptors a team that has underachieved all year. The Magic are without swingman Michael Pietrus who they picked off this offseason. His absence seems to be hurting Orlando, but don't panic here either. These are still 3 of the NBA's top 5 teams in my book. ! Don't expect these three to all lose on the same day again.
